Can a concrete sidewalk coating really make your home look better and help your walkway hold up over time? Yes—Cross Creek Concrete Coatings in Alachua County, FL provides top-tier residential sidewalk coatings designed to elevate curb appeal while standing the test of time, with options that focus on durability, safety (including non-slip performance in wet conditions), and a finished look that complements your home.
Your Sidewalk Is More Than a Path—It’s Your Home’s First Impression
Sidewalks don’t get the spotlight the way kitchens and living rooms do, but they quietly do a big job: they welcome people in. Your sidewalk is one of the first things a guest sees, and one of the first surfaces you use every day. With the right coating, it can stay functional and look intentionally finished instead of weathered or tired.
Cross Creek Concrete Coatings treats sidewalks like the important outdoor feature they are—helping homeowners protect what’s already there while enhancing the overall appearance of the home’s exterior.
Why Sidewalk Coatings Matter in Alachua County (Where the Elements Can Be Unpredictable)
In Alachua County, Florida, outdoor features like sidewalks face real-world conditions that aren’t always gentle. Cross Creek Concrete Coatings positions their solutions to meet those challenges head-on, offering coatings designed for longevity and resilience.
Their sidewalk coatings are specifically described as designed to resist fading, yellowing, and wear—so your sidewalk can keep its clean look for years to come instead of slipping into that “aged concrete” vibe before you’re ready.
Safety First: Non-Slip Coatings for Wet Conditions
Florida rain is not exactly rare, and slippery walkways are a legitimate homeowner concern. Cross Creek Concrete Coatings addresses that directly: their sidewalk coatings are engineered to provide a non-slip surface, helping ensure safer passage during wet conditions.
It’s a simple upgrade with a meaningful benefit—especially for an area you and your guests use constantly.
Style Options That Blend With Your Home (Not Fight It)
A sidewalk coating doesn’t have to look like an afterthought. Cross Creek Concrete Coatings offers a range of colors, making it easier to match the coating to your home’s exterior for a seamless, coordinated look.
That means you can keep the focus on your home’s style—while the sidewalk supports the overall curb appeal instead of distracting from it.
Intricate Designs and Unique Sidewalk Styles: Covered
If your sidewalk has intricate concrete details or a unique style, Cross Creek isn’t asking you to settle for a “close enough” application. Their team is described as skilled in applying coatings to various sidewalk designs, making sure coverage reaches every nook and cranny while enhancing the beauty of detailed concrete.
So whether your sidewalk is simple or more decorative, the goal remains the same: protect it, improve it, and make it look great.
Epoxy vs. Polyurea for Sidewalk Coatings (What Cross Creek Says to Consider)
Sidewalk coatings often bring up one big comparison: epoxy vs. polyurea.
Epoxy has been popular for years, but Cross Creek points out a key issue outdoors: epoxy can fade and yellow under prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Polyaspartic polyurea coatings are positioned differently. Cross Creek describes them as offering superior UV resistance, helping the color and finish remain vibrant for a long time—even under harsh sun. They’re also described as having a quick curing time, flexibility, and durability, which makes them an excellent choice for outdoor applications like sidewalks. In addition, polyurea coatings are described as resistant to abrasions and chemicals, which supports long-term performance.

Our Story: How Cross Creek Concrete Coatings Came to Life
Cross Creek’s story starts about 25 years ago in Gainesville, FL, where Brian and Aileen met as students at the University of Florida. After graduation and marriage, they moved to Jacksonville for work. Their first daughter, Emily, was born in 2003, and Kate followed in 2006. In 2014, the Goldsteins moved to the Bluffton/Hilton Head Island area of South Carolina for Brian’s career and built roots in the Lowcountry lifestyle—while still making it to as many Gator games as possible.
During that time, they formed a close friendship with neighbors John and Suzanne Paull. John decided to compliment his current business by offering garage floor coatings after customers asked about sealing their garage floors. He researched and discovered Penntek Industrial Coatings and became a certified dealer/installer. Aileen joined an initial marketing meeting with Penntek at John’s request and quickly became part of the sales and marketing side of John’s company, Innovative Concrete Coatings. Brian helped with installs of garages and patios from the beginning and especially enjoyed the satisfaction of transforming a space in just one day—turning an old, dirty garage floor into a showpiece.
Innovative Concrete Coatings grew into multiple crews serving the Lowcountry of South Carolina and the Empire Coast of Georgia. In 2022, John expanded the company to a Florida location servicing The Villages. That Florida expansion planted a seed of inspiration for Brian and Aileen to create a sister location nearby and return to the area.
After 26 years in the retail grocery industry, Brian retired. With a natural rhythm of teamwork and the motivation to spend more time together and closer to their daughters and extended family, Brian and Aileen started their own venture—Cross Creek Concrete Coatings. They bring four years of experience working with Penntek products into the business, with a focus on customer service and concrete coatings installed with integrity and honesty.
Why “Cross Creek”? (A Name With Old Florida Roots)
The name Cross Creek Concrete Coatings is meant to evoke the “old Florida” Brian and Aileen remember from growing up in Florida. Cross Creek is located in Alachua County and connects Orange Lake and Lochloosa Lake. It’s also described as the idyllic setting of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ novel The Yearling, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that was made into a movie in 1983.
For Aileen, visiting the homesite of Rawlings’ home and the inspiration behind the novel was a pivotal memory during her years at UF. Returning to the Gainesville area has been a longtime dream for both Brian and Aileen, and they’re excited to provide “TransFLOORmations” to households in Alachua County and surrounding areas. Brian’s brother Jake will also be joining the company—another dream come true.
